Marble is metamorphic rock of calcareous origin that has been subjected to pressure and
temperature changes.
Pure marble is white in colour.
However, many marbles have great variations in colour
(impurities, oxides etc) and sometimes attractive veining due to the presence of other substances.
The term marble has come to include any stone that can take a fine polish for use in decoration e.g.
bathrooms, dining tables, furniture tops and flooring.
This very "classy" stone is much sought after for its beauty and exceptional finish.
